We recently went for a week’s holiday to Las Alpujarras in southern Spain. One of the highlights was a trip to the city of Granada to visit the Alhambra, the Moorish palace that sits on a hill overlooking the city. Beautiful, awe-inspiring, overwhelming… it was all these things, as well as incredibly busy (the site sees 6,000 visitors a day in high season, apparently). These are some images of (and from) the Alhambra itself: mainly of the Nasrid palaces, with all their intricate, delicate plasterwork and decoration, some of it simply sit-down-and-be-stunned breathtaking.
