It was ridiculously warm last weekend, so we decided to head for the southside of Bala lake and do a walk exploring some of the network of footpaths above the railway there.
We set out through the cute little steam railway station, crossing the footbridge over the line, and followed the bridleway through the John Lewis private hotel and into the open fields beyond. It was the middle of November and yet we didn’t need coats or hats.
Climbing up the hillside, we had great views back across the lake to the town. Our return route took us through damp and dusky woodland, with lichen abundant and even some lovely whole fly agarics, though I had to get down on my belly to get a photo of them under the trees.
